Introduction to Multicat Workboats

This course provides an overview of multicat workboats (multicats). Learners will be introduced to the defining characteristics and essential equipment of multicats, their evolution, and their roles across ports and offshore environments. The course outlines the main operations multicats support, such as dredging assistance, anchor handling, towing, buoy maintenance, construction and general logistics. Fundamental safety considerations are addressed, including common hazards, required personal protective equipment and the importance of vessel-specific capability checks.
