E-learning – Principles of Anchor Handling

This course examines the principal vessel types and specialised equipment used in both offshore and inshore settings, including AHTS vessels, multicats, winches, and ancillary deck gear. The course details operational planning, communication procedures, and stability considerations, with particular attention to risk assessment and the management of heeling moments. Learners will study standard anchor recovery and deployment methods, operational variations such as deep-water and tandem procedures, and safety protocols including the Stop the Job principle, crew positioning, and emergency release systems.

Each module takes appr 30 minutes each, with knowledge questions and questions that test true understanding of the contents. The theory is enriched by many engaging images, videos and presentations that explain and visualise the theory. A dashboard allows you to plan and track your progress.
