E-learning – Tugs with forward propulsion

39,00

E-learning for maritime professionals involved in ship handling with tugs, including (future) tug masters, pilots, and trainers. The contents of this e-learning is based on the standard reference work ‘Tug Use in Port’ by Captain Henk Hensen. The content has been tailored for the use of this e-learning, with input from many partners from the tug community.

In this module we discuss the most common harbour tug types that have forward propulsion. For each tug type, we discuss its specification, the performance and the manoeuvring.

You will learn:

  • The key features of Voith Schneider tugs, and their impact on performance and manoeuvring
  • The key features of tractor tugs fitted with azimuth propellers, commonly referred to as ATD tugs
  • The key features of other tug types, specifically Rotortugs, Carrousel tugs and Transverse tugs
