Martijn van Wijngaarden

Martijn van Wijngaarden graduated as Naval Architect from Delft University of Technology in 1982. Throughout his international career as Senior Consultant he has served offshore, marine and energy industries on a wide range of projects.

Having worked in the Royal Netherlands Navy and at MARIN research institute he joined the offshore industry when the new company Allseas Engineering started. Over a decade he was engaged in its offshore fleet development, logistics and certification management.

For the next eight years he established himself as an independent marine consultant, based in South Asia. Continuing his consultancy profession from Europe he was involved in numerous vessel design, newbuilding, upgrading and maintenance projects. He acquired experience in the entire lifecycle of marine assets. From concept design and feasibility analysis up till recycling.

In project teams he also takes up safety and risk management roles. Having accumulated expert knowledge on classification and certification of offshore units, he got engaged as active member of Lloyd’s Register’s Offshore Technical Committee.

Martijn has contributed to numerous technical conferences, and authored several papers. He publishes in maritime media on current topics of interest to a broad readership.
